Chattahoochee River
The "Hooch" begins in the foothills of the Appalachian / Blue Ridge Mountains and flows south before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. It forms a partial natural boundary between Georgia and its neighbor to the west, Alabama. The river is an important source of fresh water for most georgians living north of the fall line in the Metro Atlanta area and also provides the people of the state numerous recreational opportunities as well as hydro-electric power.
The Savannah River flows from the base of the Appalachian Mountains in a southwest direction before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. It forms a natural boundary between Georgia and South Carolina. It also provides drinking water, hydro-electric power and recreation opportunities to the people of our state.
