The Woodland Period of Georgia prehistory is broadly dated from around 1000 B.C. to A.D. 900. This period witnessed the development of many trends that began during the preceding Late Archaic Period. The Woodlands are credited with the development of the bow and arrow as well as greatly improving pottery by making it stronger and more ornamented. They are also given credit for developing horticulture or the growing or cultivating plants for food.
