Georgia's Regions
Coastal Plains
The Coastal Plains region of Georgia is known for its flatlands, marshes and swamps. One of the best-known wetlands in the United States - the Okefenokee Swamp - is located in this region of Georgia. This area covers the southern and southeastern half of Georgia. It is the largest region of Georgia. This region is also home to most of the agriculture that happens within our state. Cotton, peanuts, pecans, and of course Vidalia Onions. Visitors can hike through Providence Canyon which was created over 150 years ago by erosion from poor farming practices. Check out the beautiful sights and wildlife in the Okefenokee Swamp. The other site that is located in this region is Radium Springs but is currently closed to visitors.
